Well, I totally adore Neil Gaiman so I'm always happy when i see somebody else enjoying his books. I also think the film version of this book is amazing - so colourful and actually quite scary in parts!

Thank you so much for the great review of my book! You have given me so much to improve on and I'm really glad to hear it. I just noticed that the kindle version did not upload correctly, so the formatting is terrible. I put so much time in on the print version formatting that I didn't even think to check the formatting for the kindle version. That issue is going to be addressed this weekend and while I'm at it I will do a grammar and typo run through again. It is so difficult to look at your own book with fresh eyes looking for typos when you know what it says by heart lol. Still thank you so much for your awesome review and I'm glad my story and plot were enjoyable. It pretty much made my day :-)

Very nice review and fair summary - this was also my first Cooky, and having gotten past the traumatic bed scene I became ever more relieved that it wasn't a chiclit book wrapped in tedious lines. I am however left wondering about BJ in the end...through fb I've learnt of Claire having an interview with the Book report radio show tomorrow, and will make effort to listen to it - if she's as fun as her book, then the interview will be worth listening to.

I disagree about the subplot involving the games. I think these are some of the best scenes from all the books of the first Deltora Quest series.

Awesome review!This book is a keeper. Kaycee is a young woman who was frail in the beginning and became a stronger person towards the end. The "incident" you're referring to is VERY heartbreaking. The scene when Danny breaks down is so moving.

Thank you, Melanie, for taking the time to share your thoughts on Brimstone.

Rest assured that Ewan returns in Hourglass, the sequel to Brimstone. Hourglass is a much more complex novel, with several story lines running in parallel before converging. There are also some new characters, including Ashar, a smart and talented boy who becomes both foil and friend for Jenny.

I'll let you know when Hourglass is released.
